BIO

My name is Ruben Radwan Tognetti. I am a freelance multimedia journalist based in Italy, working primarily within European research and innovation contexts.

My journey into journalism began in Berlin in 2012, where I co-founded a multilingual radio platform that broadcast in English, German and Spanish. That experience shaped my approach to storytelling across languages and cultures, and remains the foundation of how I work today.

Since 2018, I have been documenting research projects, scientific initiatives, and conferences across Europe as an independent freelance. My work sits at the intersection of journalism, documentary practice, and field-based research storytelling: interviews with researchers and policymakers, reportages from conferences and fieldwork sites, and long-form pieces that explore how research translates into policy and everyday life.

Over time, I have developed an approach that values presence and observation. Field Ledger collects selected works from this ongoing practice: documentaries, event reports, interviews, and photo essays produced on site across Europe.

Alongside my professional work, I also keep a separate space for my personal photography projects at indieph.com.
